Lorna Taylor, LPC, RPT™, NCC
Child Therapist & Parent Coach in Lawrenceville, GA
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. Allow me to share some information to help you make the decision about working with me.
First, let me tell you two core beliefs that are the foundation of my work with children. “Children do well when they can” and “behavior is communication”. That’s it in a nutshell. Our collaboration together will show you how starting with these precepts lead to success for you, your child, and the family.
My passion is working with children and parents to achieve the goals they identify. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am trained in the theories and interventions of “talk therapy”. In addition, I have received extensive, specialized training in Play Therapy. During my master’s program, I had advanced classes that focused on children and families. Before entering private practice, I worked in various settings including an emergency shelter for children and in the home with foster families.
Establishing a relationship with the client is necessary to achieve success in child therapy and in parent coaching. With that in mind, I focus on creating a safe, supportive environment. I aim to meet each person where they are by using a client-centered approach. I delight in entering a child's "world" through talk, art, sand tray, or other expressive approaches. Once a relationship is established, we can progress from there. When working with parents/caregivers I seek to understand how you define a successful outcome. We then work collaboratively to determine what is needed to accomplish this.
I invite you to contact me so we may discuss your needs.
